A former launderette, located on the Saint-Denis Square in the heart of Forest/Vorst, is appropriated by two artists simultaneously. The first space allows the presentation of an installation, while the other side invites bidimensional works (painting, collage drawing…). The objective is to confront two different interventions which dialog and answer each other. The two artists decide themselves to work together and express the affinities between their respective practices.

For Speedy Wash, Martin Laborde presents a new work, Index n°1, a bidimensional version of an existing sculpture. This new interpretation of a former volume reactivates the artist's approach to sculpture, by exctracting it from its base on the ground.

Jean-Baptiste Bernadet exhibits a painting on cardboard, derived from a series in black and white shown previously at the Chapelle des Calvairiennes in Mayenne (F) in 2007. Colors have been added to the old image and the result will be presented like a reactivated and condensed version of the show in Mayenne.

Together, the artists have also created a cardboard support for beer glasses, which will be distributed in 2500 copies in the cafés located on the Saint-Denis Square during the exhibition. This work, a direct allusion to the title of the exhibition - Spring Break - is an in-between support and painting.

Finally, the title of the project also reflects the artists' desire to show in the context of Speedy Wash a singular work, an interval, with regard to their respective production.
